Because Every Person Matters...
Carnival is a festive season that occurs immediately before the Christian season of Lent. The main events typically occur during February. Carnival typically involves a public celebration, party with a combining some elements of a circus, masks and party.
Our Polish carnival took a place in Bangladeshi Community Centre in Bradford. We had not only Polish guests.
Everyone enjoyed a Polish food, Polish music and traditions. Everyone had a great time and our feedback after this event was really good.
The term Carnival is traditionally used in areas with a large Catholic presence. The Lenten period of the Liturgical calendar, the six weeks directly before Easter , was originally marked by fasting and other pious or penitential practices. Traditionally during Lent, no parties or celebrations were held, and people refrained from eating rich foods, such as meat, dairy, fat and sugar. Before Lent began, all rich food and drink were consumed in what became a giant celebration that involved the whole community, and is thought to be the origin of Carnival.
Everyone was really happy and time was spent well. We are looking forward to our International Children's Day which will be hold in June 2015!
